I had a terrible experience at Panera Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando, Florida. I placed my order. They gave me the beeper and I went to sit down. I was by myself so I tried to pull my phone while waited there and I realize that I didn't have the phone with me. I was sure I had it so I went to the counter and look around and it wasn't there. I thought: I forgot my phone in the car (which was parked across the street). After I finished my lunch, I went to my car and the phone wasn't there. I grabbed my tablet and login into a system that helps me track my phone (#cerberusapp). My system tells me that the phone is indeed in Panera. I went back and I asked the girl that took my order: I think I forgot my phone here, have you seen it? She said no, nobody found a phone here, next... I felt ignored but I said: I am sure my phone is here. She turned around and asked another girl (what I think was the manager), and this young woman quickly look around under the counter and and immediately responded: Nobody found a phone here..Next.
With this system (thanks ceberus!) I can make my phone ring an alarm very loud even if my phone is on silent. And so I did! The "manager?" came quickly and pulled the phone behind the counter under the cashier and quickly say I am sorry and continue talking to another client. I stayed there in shocked. Did they just try to steal my phone??? Nobody said, I am sorry sr, no explanation on why the phone was behind the counter. nothing. Everybody continue taking care of other clients. So I left but I as soon as aI got in the car I called the store to speak with the manager. She was very defensive and kept on saying that nobody saw a phone and nobody returned a phone. I tried to reason with her an explained what happened to no avail.
I really tried to give the Panera the benefit of the doubt and talked to the manager to reason to find out how this could have happened but she was very quick to dismiss me. This is puzzling and beyond bizarre.
